We are seeking a highly motivated and professional person in the role of Security and Data Assurance Officer to join ERSOU. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in protecting the organisation from security threats posed by hostile actors and organised crime networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening organisational security and ensuring robust data assurance practices across the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU). You will support the implementation of consistent security standards, contribute to MOPI compliance, and provide expert advice to senior leaders on security risks and mitigation.

What we are looking for:

  • Promote a strong information security culture
  • Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures
  • Provide physical and personal security advice
  • Conduct audits and manage penetration testing activity
  • Investigate and maintain records of security incidents
  • Coordinate access control and act as a point of contact
  • Support data assurance and MOPI compliance
  • Deliver security training and briefings
  • Build effective partnerships across the seven forces
  • Ideally possess a knowledge of covert law enforcement environments
  • Ideally have some form of investigative background
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have strong attention to detail, and the ability to produce high-quality reports.

ERSOU is funded by the seven police forces that make up the eastern region, with Bedfordshire Police being the lead force. ERSOU is the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, that oversees and delivers a regional level response to Serious and Organised Crime, and Counter Terrorism Policing for the Forces in the Eastern Region.

Vetting: Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) or Development Vetting, if applicable, before taking up the post. Please be aware the Police Corporate Vetting Unit will undertake security vetting on successful candidates, their family and others that live at their home address, which will include financial checks.
