Main purpose of the role

The Cosmetic Refurbishment Manager is responsible for leading all cosmetic refurbishment operations, ensuring vehicles are repaired and prepared to the highest quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

The role oversees multiple refurbishment disciplines and Team Leaders, driving operational performance, cost control, workforce planning, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Cosmetic Refurbishment Manager is accountable for developing high-performing teams, maintaining compliance, and delivering business objectives through effective leadership and resource management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop Team Leaders and their teams across all cosmetic refurbishment functions, including SMART Repair and Wheel Refurbishment.
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity and quality standards, ensuring the most cost-effective repair solutions are consistently applied.
  • Monitor and communicate departmental KPIs, performance targets and business objectives through regular engagement with leadership teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety requirements, company policies and industry best practices.
  • Manage all people-related activities including performance management, attendance, absence management, recruitment, succession planning and employee development.
  • Support the ongoing training and upskilling of technicians, apprentices and Team Leaders, ensuring awareness of the latest repair techniques and industry developments.
  • Oversee workforce planning and resource allocation to ensure operational demands are met effectively.
  • Utilise internal systems to manage employee records and operational planning.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business to support the achievement of departmental and company goals.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous management experience within a vehicle bodyshop, cosmetic refurbishment or automotive repair environment.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle SMART repair processes and bodyshop operations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of two years.
  • Ability to drive manual, automatic and electric vehicles.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and driving performance.
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Positive, proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement and team development.
