Main Purpose of The Role: The Service Readiness Specialist ensures that new or changed technology services are introduced smoothly and safely into TechOps and the wider business. This role is accountable for service readiness, assessing operational impact, transition coordination and knowledge transfer—ensuring that teams understand what is changing, why it matters, and what actions are required. The role focuses on adoption, readiness, and transition execution, supporting Technology in driving predictable, controlled service outcomes for operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Readiness & Impact Assessment: Conduct service readiness and operational impact assessments covering people, process, and service impacts. Identify readiness gaps, transition risks, dependencies, and stakeholder considerations early. Support stakeholder mapping and identify required actions to prepare impacted teams. Provide insight to the Service Readiness & Communication Manager to shape messaging and adoption plans. Ensure adoption and readiness needs are captured.
  • Transition Coordination: Coordinate transition activities across TechOps teams, ensuring readiness milestones are met. Develop transition checklists and readiness trackers for assigned initiatives. Align with Project Managers, Product, Service Owners and Engineering to ensure operational prerequisites are in place. Validate that required processes, permissions, monitoring and access updates are completed before go-live. Drive Hypercare & Early Life Support planning and execution.
  • Operational Enablement: Ensure operational teams (Service Desk, DCO, Infra, Networks, Workplace, Field Ops) are informed, prepared and trained. Support operations in understanding “what’s changing”, typical issues, key contacts and escalation paths. Facilitate handover sessions, explain impacts, and ensure readiness documentation is complete. Work closely with Operations and Service Owners to verify operational acceptance criteria are satisfied.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Support the creation of service guides, support documentation, FAQs, and knowledge articles in collaboration with Knowledge Management team. Ensure documentation is right-sized, timely, consistent, and aligned to operational requirements. Facilitate training and knowledge transfer sessions with Service Desk, Operations and relevant support teams.
  • Communication & Engagement: Provide structured, clear inputs to the Service Readiness & Communication Manager for all messaging. Translate change impacts into user-friendly content for release notes, internal updates and operational communications. Ensure stakeholders understand the change, rationale, impacts and required user actions. Provide content and detail to support communication planning.
  • Reporting & Ways of Working: Maintain readiness and transition dashboards, updating status, risks and dependencies regularly. Participate in stand-ups, workshops, demos and governance forums as required. Adhere to the Service Readiness frameworks and contribute to their improvement. Capture lessons learned from transition activity for future improvements. Identify opportunities to improve readiness quality, reduce rework, and speed up transition cycles. Promote reusable templates, clarity in documentation, and optimised handover practices. Contribute feedback to enhance the Service Readiness playbook and ways of working.

Knowledge and Experience: Experience in Service Readiness, Service Transition, or Technology Service Management roles. Hands-on experience in ITIL-aligned operational environments. Understanding of Agile delivery, DevOps ways of working and product-led organisations. Experience supporting the design and transition of both on-premise and cloud-based services. Experience working with distributed teams and multiple business stakeholders.
