Join the UK’s largest B2B used vehicle service. At BCA, we’re altogether, more. More than just a normal vehicle remarketing company. More than just any other place to work. We’re Europe's largest vehicle remarketing company, the backbone of the UK’s automotive supply chain, the best place to build the career you want.

Main Purpose of The Role: The Finance Product Analyst sits at the intersection of finance domain expertise and product thinking. Working closely with the Product Owner, this role drives the discovery, definition, and iterative delivery of customer‑centred improvements to BCA’s Finance applications - translating complex financial workflows into well‑prioritised product backlogs that deliver measurable business value.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Product & Agile Delivery: Own and maintain a well‑groomed, value‑driven product backlog for Finance applications; ensure items are clearly defined with acceptance criteria, business value rationale, and effort estimates ahead of sprint planning. Lead backlog refinement and sprint planning sessions in partnership with the Product Owner and delivery squads, applying agile best practices (Scrum / Kanban) to maximise throughput and minimise waste. Champion iterative delivery - break large requirements into independently deliverable increments, facilitate sprint reviews, and embed a test‑and‑learn mindset across the product team. Act as Product Owner proxy where required: make prioritisation calls that balance customer impact, technical debt, regulatory requirements, and commercial ROI. Identify gaps in existing Finance systems and validate proposed solutions through structured discovery and stakeholder feedback loops before committing to build. Define non‑functional requirements (performance, security, resilience, compliance) in collaboration with Infrastructure, InfoSec, and Service Delivery teams.
  • Customer‑Centric Requirements & Discovery: Embed a customer‑first approach in all product decisions - conduct user research, journey mapping, and voice‑of‑the‑customer sessions with internal finance stakeholders and end‑users to surface genuine needs, overstated wants. Facilitate discovery workshops and design‑thinking sessions to build shared understanding of problems before solutions are explored. Challenge requirements that do not clearly link to a measurable user or business outcome, and advocate for outcomes over outputs in every conversation. Work directly with finance process owners to map as‑is workflows, identify friction points, and co‑design future‑state solutions that are both user‑centric and technically feasible.
  • Finance Domain & Commercial Accountability: Supporting the product owner to leverage a strong understanding of core finance processes (P2P, O2C, R2R, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting) to contextualise requirements and assess solution viability within the Finance applications landscape. Manage and track development spend against agreed budgets; coordinate supplier quotations, challenge commercial proposals, and monitor consumed versus remaining development days with third‑party enterprise application partners. Contribute to robust business cases - including cost‑benefit analysis, risk assessment, and projected ROI - to support investment decisions for new product initiatives or significant changes. Provide senior management with clear, finance‑literate insights on project scope, cost trajectories, and delivery risk to enable informed prioritisation and governance decisions.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Required Skills:
  • Finance domain expertise - solid understanding of core finance processes (procure‑to‑pay, order‑to‑cash, record‑to‑report, FP&A) and working knowledge of enterprise finance systems such as Access Dimensions, PT‑X, SAGE 50 Professional, Business Central, CALMS2 Web 2.0, and Enterprise Emburse.
  • Product mindset - experience contributing to or owning a product backlog; able to write user stories with clear acceptance criteria and participate actively in sprint ceremonies.
  • Agile methodology - demonstrable understanding of Scrum and/or Kanban; comfortable with sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and iterative delivery. Certification (e.g. CSPO, PSM, SAFe) is advantageous.
  • Software development tools - experienced in using Azure DevOps or Jira.
  • Customer‑centric thinking - proven ability to uncover underlying user needs through structured discovery; skilled at translating qualitative insights into well‑defined requirements.
  • Commercial acumen - ability to construct and interpret business cases, track budgets, and frame technical trade‑offs in financial terms for senior non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical rigour - logical, structured approach to problem‑solving; able to synthesise information from multiple sources and form a coherent, evidence‑based view.
  • Communication and influencing - outstanding written and verbal communication; equally effective in facilitating a sprint review with engineers and presenting a business case to an executive sponsor.
  • Stakeholder management - experienced in navigating complex stakeholder landscapes; builds trust at all levels and facilitates alignment across organisational boundaries.
  • Transparency and growth mindset - committed to open communication about risks and delivery realities; proactively seeks feedback and continuously improves ways of working.
  • Educated to degree level - preferred discipline Finance/Accounting or Computer science.
  • 1‑3 years’ experience in either a product owner or product management role. Prior experience in delivering a complex finance project.
