Main Purpose of The Role:
The TechOps division is responsible for managing and supporting our mission-critical IT network, security, infrastructure, and cloud services, consistently delivering high-quality operational outcomes to meet the expectations of a growing digital business. The Cloud Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for strategic planning, team leadership, and technical oversight of cloud infrastructure services. This role combines people management, project delivery, and cloud architecture expertise to ensure our platforms meet business needs while adhering to best practices in security, governance, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of cloud engineers and architects, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Define team objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support career progression.
- Ensure resource allocation aligns with project priorities and business goals.
- Build succession plans and talent pipelines for critical roles.
- Strategic Cloud Management
- Develop and execute cloud strategies for AWS and Azure environments.
- Establish governance frameworks for identity management, compliance, and cost control.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and DevOps practices.
- Align cloud initiatives with organizational goals and digital transformation roadmap.
- Project & Stakeholder Management
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of cloud infrastructure projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and security teams to align cloud solutions with business requirements.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project progress and risk mitigation.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for cloud services.
- Technical Oversight
- Guide architectural decisions for multi-cloud environments, ensuring scalability and resilience.
- Oversee integration with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Ensure robust monitoring and observability using tools such as Dynatrace and PagerDuty.
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud infrastructure.
- Operational Excellence
- Implement best practices for security, networking, and identity management (AWS IAM, Azure AD).
- Optimize cloud costs through proactive monitoring and resource management.
- Maintain clear documentation for architectures, processes, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
- FinOps & Cost Management
- Implement FinOps practices to ensure financial accountability for cloud spend.
- Collaborate with finance and business units to forecast, track, and optimize cloud costs.
- Develop dashboards and reports for cloud financial visibility and chargeback/showback models.
- Drive cost-awareness culture across engineering teams through training and governance.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure teams in AWS and Azure environments.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with a track record of team development.
- Expertise in multi-account cloud architectures, networking fundamentals, and IAM security.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of serverless architectures and modern deployment practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
- Strong understanding of cost optimization strategies and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with FinOps frameworks and tools for cloud cost management.
- Ability to analyse usage patterns and recommend cost-saving strategies.
- AWS and/or Azure certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).
- Experience in cost optimization and cloud security best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
- Exposure to observability tools and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience managing budgets and forecasting cloud spend.
