Role perspective
We’re looking for down-to-earth go-getters who are ready to make their mark on the automotive industry. Our Site Operations and Driving teams play a vital role across our business. Here you can build on your knowledge and find your specialty at one of our sites or on the road – the opportunities are endless.
Responsibilities
- You will be leading a team of compound operatives, moving vehicles around the site, mainly from the area at the end of the Production line into the Vehicle Despatch Compound, and also within the storage and despatch compounds.
- Lead movement of vehicles around site using hand held scanners to ensure vehicles are located in the system, that correct vehicles are moved, and that each vehicle is parked in the correct location.
- Inspect the vehicles and park them in accordance with quality procedures.
- Carry out vehicle movements on foot or in a team minibus where appropriate; drive a team bus if required.
- Ensure vehicles are parked in full compliance with customer requirements.
- Inspect vehicles on handover and prior to movement.
- Take responsibility for your own safety and that of others around you.
- Proper usage and care of company equipment such as tools, scanner equipment, yard vehicles, and reporting of any defects.
- Participate in team briefings; lead team briefings if required.
- Conduct weekly Layered Audits.
- Act as main liaison between office teams (BCA Vehicle Services staff and carrier representatives).
- Prioritise work to ensure best use of the team’s time, keep the gate clear, and complete movements in a timely manner. Raise issues affecting the team’s ability to perform their job.
- Any other tasks as requested by supervisors, management, and admin team where appropriate (may include changing wheels, end of line and VSC Return inspection and fuel fill once trained).
- Cleaning duties and overseeing completion of those of the whole team.
Qualifications and experience
- Full valid UK driving licence is essential, held for a minimum of 2 years.
- Flexibility in terms of working on rotating shifts and covering overtime.
- No specific educational requirements, though GCSE level or equivalent preferred.
- Good numerical skills would be an advantage.
- Some basic knowledge of motor vehicle operations would also be helpful.
- Proactive with a positive attitude.
- Able to demonstrate good communication skills.
- Ability to both lead a team and work independently.
- Experience of leading a team advantageous.
