Main purpose of the job: Develop your skills over the period of the apprenticeship to become a fully skilled Paint Technician.
Main responsibilities:
- To work under supervision on all aspects of paint preparation, application and final rectification on vehicles for retail and trade customers.
- You will work alongside a skilled mentor to develop your skills.
- Your main duties will include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of vehicle panels for painting
- Masking vehicles ready for application of paint
During your time in the role you will receive training onsite, through support of your onsite Mentor and with an external partner/Provider to enable you to:
- Apply primers to repaired panels and prepare them for paint
- Apply topcoats of all types to prepared panels to industry standards
- Mixing primers and topcoats as per manufacturers' specifications
- Cleaning and maintaining paint application equipment
- Rectification of minor paint faults using polishing techniques
- Maintaining the working environment in line with Health and Safety legislation
Skills and experience required:
- A keen desire to learn and motivation to continually develop will be essential to this role
- Equivalent to Grade 3 in Maths & English
- Eligible to work in the UK
