Windsor Forest Colleges group is looking for an Animal Technician - Weekends to join our Animal Centre team at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) on a fixed‑term, part‑time basis working at weekends. This role pays between G16 £10,420.76 – G19 £11,582.27 (£24,098 – £26,784.00 FTE) which is dependent on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and husbandry, including daily checks and record‑keeping of animal health and behaviour.
  • Attend to husbandry requirements such as cleaning enclosures, preparing and presenting food, ensuring appropriate bedding and water supply.
  • Liaise with veterinarians for routine preventative treatments and medication administration per Animal Centre protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work areas and accommodations; keep up‑to‑date animal records using ZIMS and other methods.
  • Implement training and enrichment strategies for the animals.
  • Adhere to all Animal Management Centre procedures and protocols, provide guidance to student groups during practical weekend duties, and assist in preparation for classes.
  • Ensure safety and security of the Animal Management Centre and compliance with college health and safety policies.

Key qualifications:

  • Strong practical skills with a variety of animals.
  • Minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Strong record‑keeping abilities.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision.

The position is part‑time, 16 hours per week on weekends, on a fixed‑term contract until 31 August 2026.
