The Duke of York is an historic Country pub offering high quality classic pub food and accommodation in the beautiful village of Iddesleigh on the edge of Dartmoor. We are seeking a skilled Chef to head up our small team at our busy Pub/restaurant in the heart of Devon. The ideal candidate will have the ability to run a busy service whilst maintaining the quality of dishes leaving the kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food production
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and training as needed
- Maintain food safety standards and ensure compliance with hygiene regulations
- Manage inventory and control food costs effectively
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team to deliver an exceptional dining experience
Experience Required Skills:
- Extensive experience in culinary arts, with a focus on food preparation and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership skills to effectively manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks
- Proficiency in supervising kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Previous experience in team management within a restaurant setting
- Expertise in various cooking styles and culinary trends
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment maintenance and usage
Currently the hours for the position are four days with the full days being split shifts and the hours being 40 to 46 hours per week, running Thursday to Sunday. However, this is flexible and there would of course be some swapping around with the two other chefs on the rota.
