Introduction to Advisory Group
In line with our strong sustainability ambitions and commitment to helping clients navigate a dynamic market, BBVA CIB\’s financial advisory unit has established a specialized group focusing on offshore wind power and energy transition/cleantech sectors, especially emerging technologies like green hydrogen, carbon capture, energy storage, transport electrification, and biofuels.
This group\’s scope includes debt advisory (project finance, acquisition finance, refinancing) and equity-side mandates (buy-side or sell-side M&A). It has a global reach with core offices in London and Madrid.
About the job:
Job Responsibilities
Origination
- Help originate, maintain, and strengthen relationships with clients, potential clients, lenders (banks and institutional investors), and due diligence advisors.
- Participate in marketing efforts and prepare pitches and presentation materials (both internal and external).
- Assist in market research and monitor/update the deal pipeline.
- Coordinate with internal teams to identify opportunities or propose new business ideas and help convert these into mandates.
Execution
- Be involved in structuring and executing transactions from start to finish, owning specific deliverables.
- Communicate with clients regarding transaction aspects.
- Supervise the preparation of detailed financial models and analyses.
- Prepare deal materials such as information memoranda and approval documents.
- Assist in lender approval processes and review project documentation and negotiations.
- Coordinate with external advisors for due diligence.
General
- Train and mentor junior team members.
- Promote cross-selling of CIB products with other teams.
- Handle internal and external administrative tasks.
- Travel may be required for meetings.
Qualifications
Academic background and experience:
- Master\’s degree (MBA or Finance specialization preferred).
- 6-8 years of experience in debt advisory (project finance, acquisition finance) and/or M&A, especially in renewables or cleantech assets.
- Experience in investment banks, advisory firms, commercial banks, or from the sponsor/developer side.
Technical skills and languages:
- Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English; Spanish and other European languages are a plus.
Soft skills:
- Good interpersonal skills for client interaction and team mentorship.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
