Sustainability & Low Carbon Advisory is part of the Global Advisory team within the Investment Banking & Finance Area at BBVA CIB. Global Advisory provides a full range of investment banking advisory services to CIB clients, including M&A, Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt Advisory and Sustainability & Low Carbon Transition Advisory. We aspire to support our clients in their transition to a more sustainable and low-carbon future.

Our team works alongside corporate, industrial, infrastructure and financial sponsor clients to provide strategic and financial advice on energy transition and decarbonisation opportunities, sustainable growth strategies and capital raising across Europe and globally.

The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of professional experience in corporate finance within the energy or infrastructure sectors, including M&A, debt advisory, project finance or transaction advisory. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience advising clients on energy transition, renewable energy or sustainable or low carbon infrastructure transactions.

  • Support the origination of new business opportunities across energy transition, low-carbon technologies and sustainable finance by developing sector expertise and strategic client dialogue:
    • Market intelligence and analysis of energy transition trends, technologies and investment activity.
    • Support the identification of client strategic priorities and investment opportunities.
    • Prepare client presentations, marketing materials and strategic advisory documentation.
    • Work closely with other BBVA product teams to identify integrated financing and advisory solutions for clients' energy transition strategies.
  • Support the execution of strategic and corporate finance mandates across the energy transition and decarbonisation sector, including M&A, debt advisory, project finance and broader strategic advisory assignments:
    • Support due diligence processes and coordinate workstreams with internal and external advisers.
    • Build, review and maintain financial models, valuation analyses and transaction materials.
    • Conduct financial, strategic and commercial analysis to support client decision-making throughout transaction execution.

You are a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity and a collaborative mindset. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You enjoy analysing complex strategic and financial situations and translating them into clear recommendations. You have a genuine interest in the energy sector, the energy transition and sustainability. You have a solid understanding of corporate finance principles and financial analysis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, transaction advisory, M&A, debt advisory or project finance, ideally with exposure to the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the energy sector and key energy transition themes, including renewable energy, power markets, electrification, energy storage, hydrogen or other low-carbon technologies.
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional European languages (Spanish, German, French or Italian) would be an advantage.

Please note that priority will be given to candidates who are eligible to work in the UK.
