In the Global Markets Risk Unit (GMRU), we are responsible for the accurate measurement and monitoring of market risk associated with Global Markets activities. Within the Risk Solutions team, we manage the design, execution, and implementation of various risk-related projects, including valuation, market risk, counterparty risk, AVAs, XVAs, among others. The team focuses on implementation projects, development, and enhancement of corporate tools within BBVA's Global Markets environment, collaborating on projects initiated both by GMRU and other areas.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary risk contact/interlocutor in the conception, planning, design, execution, and implementation of projects (responsible role).
- Define project scope from the outset, establishing the most suitable governance structure to ensure success and securing necessary approvals.
- Understand the project scope and identify impacts across various risk dimensions, including valuation, market risk, counterparty risk, AVAs, XVAs, among others.
- Coordinate internally with risk teams to define requirements for the new solution, develop validation strategies, identify stakeholders and required validations, and estimate necessary resources and timelines.
- Ensure appropriate staffing for the project in coordination with relevant managers responsible for allocating resources.
- Develop and maintain the project plan, manage unforeseen events, dependencies, and critical path.
- Actively participate in project monitoring and execution committees, internally escalating relevant issues to discipline and/or process representatives.
- Take responsibility for specific project-related actions and analyses when required.
- Interact with other teams and departments, both locally and at the Holding level, to ensure proper implementation of established requirements.
Required Profile
We seek a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional, aligned with the offered role.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in the financial or banking sector.
- Minimum five years of experience in project management, preferably in the financial or banking sector.
- Experience in implementing and enhancing corporate tools within the global markets domain.
- Knowledge and experience in various financial risk concepts: valuation, sensitivities, market risk, counterparty risk, AVAs, XVAs.
- Knowledge and experience in programming, particularly Python, is highly valued.
Skills:
- Ability to analyze and understand quantitative models and valuation tools.
- Solid technical knowledge of capital market products and familiarity with financial risk systems and trading platforms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
