About the Unit
Commercial Banking UK is part of the Banca Europa unit, which operates within BBVA Spain’s Commercial and Institutional Banking division. The European Banking team currently provides coverage across several core markets, including France, Benelux, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Italy, and Germany.
About the job
To manage and develop strong, strategic relationships with assigned corporate clients by providing tailored financial solutions that meet their global needs. The role focuses on identifying business opportunities across BBVA’s global footprint, maximizing portfolio profitability, and ensuring a sound balance between risk and return.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end relationship management of a portfolio of global corporate clients, with a deep understanding of their strategic goals and financial needs.
- Act as the primary commercial contact for senior client stakeholders (e.g. CFOs, Finance Directors, Treasurers), offering value-added financial advice and customized solutions.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams across countries within the European Banking Unit, including local CIB teams, BBVA Spain’s Risk Department, Legal Services, and product experts (Corporate Lending, Cash Management, Global Trade Finance, Global Markets, DCM, etc.).
- Design and implement global financial programs, overseeing credit risk analysis and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Identify cross-border business opportunities in collaboration with local bankers covering the international subsidiaries of clients in the portfolio.
- Actively participate in business development efforts, including client presentations (Investment Days, earnings reviews), networking events, and industry conferences.
- Proactively manage potential clients and support new client acquisition.
- Drive business development initiatives in Ireland and the Nordic countries .
What are we looking for?
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in managing large corporates and/or investment banking and corporate finance products (minimum 7 years).
- Strong knowledge of corporate and investment banking solutions and services.
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Prior experience and knowledge of the UK corporate banking market and other European geographies is a plus.

Languages
- English: Fluent or native level (C1+)
- Spanish: Highly valued but not mandatory
