We are recruiting for an experienced Legal Officer on behalf of our client based in Nottingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional to join a busy Legal Services team, providing legal advice, guidance, and representation on matters relating to Planning, Highways, Rights of Way, and supporting major projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice, guidance, and representation to internal and external clients.
- Manage a varied caseload involving Planning, Highways, Rights of Way, and other legal matters as required.
- Represent the Council in legal proceedings and attend meetings to provide legal advice.
- Support colleagues within the Legal Services team and contribute to service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, professional standards, and the Authority's policies and procedures.
- Keep up to date with changes in legislation and contribute to service improvements.
- Build positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
- Deliver high-quality legal services while meeting performance targets and deadlines.
Hours
37 hours per week
Requirements
- Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
- Knowledge or experience in Planning Law, Highways Law, Rights of Way, or Local Government Law.
- Understanding of the statutory and governance framework within Local Authorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and case management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
