Youth Justice Officer in Ferndale

We also recruit for Social Care and Public Sector roles. We are currently recruiting for a Youth Justice officer for our client based in Lambeth. The purpose of the role is to manage a case load of youth justice cases, working innovatively with young people from diverse backgrounds and engaging them; their families and other professionals to assess, develop and deliver interventions and activities that support their personal and social skills and participation in society. The role will be directly contributing to youth justice service outcomes by creatively engaging young people who are subject to youth justice orders and interventions Key Responsibilities: * Effectively engage with young people from diverse backgrounds throughout all stages of youth justice case management, including assessments, reviews, interventions, and programmes. * Build positive professional relationships with young people and families, establishing clear boundaries and supporting positive behavioural change. * Gather, analyse, and assess information using appropriate assessment and screening tools to identify risks, safeguarding concerns, re-offending factors, and wellbeing needs. * Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised intervention plans in partnership with young people and their families to address individual needs and support positive development. * Manage an allocated caseload of youth justice cases, ensuring all case management responsibilities are completed in line with local and national standards, legislation, and inspection frameworks. * Monitor compliance with youth justice orders and interventions, responding promptly and effectively to non-compliance issues. * Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside professionals from education, health, police, social care, and other partner agencies. * Attend and contribute to professional meetings, including strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and multi-agency discussions, presenting information clearly and accurately. * Undertake court duties, providing advice, guidance, and support to young people, families, and court professionals. * Prepare high-quality reports for Youth Magistrates’ Courts and Crown Courts within required timescales and confidently present information when required. * Act as the lead professional for allocated cases, coordinating support and working collaboratively with partner agencies to strengthen young people and family resilience. * Deliver effective individual and group interventions using evidence-based approaches to reduce offending, improve engagement, and support participation in education, training, and employment. * Use restorative approaches to help young people understand the impact of their actions, repair harm, and support positive relationships with victims and communities. * Work collaboratively with victims of crime and support restorative intervention opportunities where appropriate. * Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date case records using IT-based case management systems in line with data protection legislation and organisational policies. * Contribute to the development of team plans, service improvements, procedures, and quality assurance activities. * Attend and represent the Youth Justice Service at internal and external meetings where required. * Work flexibly, including occasional evening and weekend duties when required. * Participate in supervision, appraisal processes, professional development planning, and continuous learning relevant to the role. * Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, council policies, safeguarding requirements, health and safety procedures, equality legislation, and data protection regulations. * Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion by challenging discrimination and supporting fair access to services for all young people and families. Requirements: * Degree qualification, Certificate in Effective Practice in Youth Justice (PCEP), and evidence of continued professional development. * Enhanced DBS * Experience working directly with young people and families through one-to-one support, group work, outreach, or community-based interventions. * Experience supporting vulnerable young people affected by risks such as offending behaviour, anti-social behaviour, exploitation, SEND, disengagement from education, or other vulnerabilities. * Staff are fully equipped with the ICT required to support hybrid and remote working.
