BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across London, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Chef to work for our client based in Edwinstowe, Nottingham area.

The role involves responsibility for all catering services within the establishment for children, young people, staff and visitors. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that menus are adhered to, the food is of good quality and quantity, is presented attractively and served at the appropriate time in appropriate portion sizes.
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen and ensuring good hygiene practices are observed by all staff or anyone else who uses the facility.
  • Checking deliveries for quality and quantity and taking appropriate action if problems arise with suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and providing adequate instruction in safety procedures.
  • Responsibility for the security of the kitchen and food storage areas, including maintenance of adequate stock control records.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, working surfaces and storage facilities.
  • Assisting in COSHH and Risk Assessments related to the use of chemicals, equipment and activity and complying with resulting directions.
  • Adhering to cleaning schedules/instructions and ensuring high standards of quality in all work undertaken.

Working hours for the chef are 20.5 hours per week.

Requirements of the Chef include:

  • Previous experience as a chef.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards and allergen regulations.
  • Understanding of large-scale or contract catering.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and reliable approach to work.
  • Positive attitude with strong customer service skills.
