We are currently recruiting HGV Class 2 refuse drivers to work for our client based in St Albans and surrounding areas for an immediate start. This role involves operating a commercial vehicle to collect refuse and recyclable materials from designated routes. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience in commercial driving, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities for HGV Class 2 refuse driver:
- Safely operate a Class 2 lorry, adhering to all road safety and traffic regulations
- Collect refuse and recyclable materials from residential, commercial, or industrial sites along assigned routes
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of waste materials using appropriate equipment, including flatbeds if necessary
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure the lorry is in safe working condition and report any faults or damages promptly
- Maintain accurate records of collections, route completion times, and any issues encountered during shifts
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding health and safety standards, including proper use of PPE
- Assist with the maintenance of the vehicle and reporting of any mechanical issues for repairs
Working Hours for the Class 2 refuse driver: 6 /7am start, Monday – Friday
Requirements for the Class 2 refuse driver:
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or commercial driver, preferably with prior experience in refuse collection or similar roles
- Valid driving licence with a Class 2 (Category C) certification
- Valid CPC and Digi Tacho card
- No more than 6 points due to insurance reasons
- Must be physically fit
- Rear steer experience
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
