BBI exists to help our customers create advances that improve health and save lives. We are seeking a Senior Production Scientist to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our site in Crumlin. Join our team: advancing health, together.

The Role

The Senior Production Scientist oversees the manufacture of products and is the first point of contact for technical queries for Production Scientists. This role involves ensuring compliance with quality systems, maintaining accurate records, training employees and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior Production Scientist will also be responsible for equipment operation and maintenance, meeting production targets, and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Production expert in the relevant product portfolio for troubleshooting and customer support.
  • Manufacture product without supervision.
  • Ensure batch record completion is accurate and up to date, including the review and approval of batch records.
  • Contribute to meeting daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
  • Perform in-process testing and quality checks of finished products where required.
  • Operate various pieces of production associated with manufacture where required.
  • Calibrate key laboratory equipment, including pH meters.
  • Oversee the calibration of laboratory equipment, and maintenance checks.
  • Manage planned and unplanned maintenance through the equipment management system, ensuring data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Maintain and calibrate specialist equipment (e.g., Akta, Freeze Driers).
  • Own and investigate complaints, NCs, CAPAs, and deviations within the quality system.
  • Assist with failure investigations and rapid responses.
  • Represent the department at internal and external audits as an SME.
  • Generate change controls via Q Pulse and drive completion.
  • Participate in risk assessments, including COSHH, FMEA, and process H&S risk assessments.
  • Keep and review GMP-compliant records.
  • Participate in validation activities, including reviewing new production procedures and manufacturing pilot and validation batches.
  • Generate new documentation and complete change requests as necessary.
  • Adhere to all SOPs, PSBRs, EOPs, SMPs, and relevant documents, and ensure production employees follow these procedures.

You should apply if:

  • Experience working with biological materials.
  • Biological / Science related Degree (preferred).
  • Experience in GMP / ISO9001 / ISO13485 industry.
  • Extensive manufacturing experience.
  • Experience and understanding in the application of Chromatographic techniques.
