BBI exists to help our customers create advances that improve health and save lives. We are seeking an R&D Scientist to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position based at our site in Crumlin. Join our team: advancing health, together.
The R&D scientist leads a small team in protein purification and analysis at the CoE Recombinant Protein Expression and Purification. He/she will support the implementation of the NPD roadmap using purification strategies towards the development of recombinant proteins and antibodies. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the different value streams in collaboration with strategic customers.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Ability to be flexible with approach on recovery/ purification of proteins from prokaryotic/ eukaryotic expression systems for enzymes, antigens and antibodies with varying degrees of complexity.
- Demonstrated experience on cell harvest, lysis, TFF and chromatographic methods.
- Proof of concept demonstration, DOE and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate ability to scale up/ tech transfer the processes to purify the biomolecules to homogeneity using scalable TFF and ÄKTA systems.
- Precise record maintenance of development and batch performances.
- Ability to prepare dossiers, SOP’s and technical reports.
- Good written and oral communication including experience with project presentation to a broader audience.
- Ability to conduct/ supervise all relevant in-process analysis for batch performance and protein analytics.
You Should Apply If:
- Experienced Scientist with a degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology or Immunology (related subjects may also be acceptable).
- PhD/ Master’s level.
- Experience in Life Science, IVD or medical industry.
- Experience in leading research projects.
- Knowledge and Experience in cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology, Immunology, Biochemistry.
- Purification technologies for proteins, including antigens, antibodies and enzymes.
- Ability to author SOP’s/ reports.
- Downstream purification and transfer to regular production.
- Experience with different systems (microbial, insect, mammalian).
- Physical chemistry and structural biology behind antibody and antigen interaction with each other and other biological molecules, particularly in immunological settings are advantageous.
