Do you love live speech radio? Do you enjoy keeping an eye on what’s going on in Westminster as much as knowing which celebrity is rumored to be having a baby?
We are looking for a researcher for the BBC Radio Scotland programme "Mornings with Kaye Adams and Stephen Jardine". The role is based in Glasgow and will run Monday‑Friday, 09:00–12:00.
Main Responsibilities
- Find, book and brief exciting and diverse contributors.
- Research topics, fact‑check and write accurate briefing notes, often under tight deadlines for the live programme.
- Develop and pitch programme/content ideas to producers.
- Provide studio support for live programmes, working with the studio producer and studio manager to ensure broadcasts run to time.
- Work on forward‑planning content – book high‑profile guests and schedule long‑term features.
Are you the right candidate?
- Passion for news and topical stories – you consume news across different platforms and stay up‑to‑date with current affairs daily.
- Good knowledge of other speech‑radio output, particularly competitors.
- Strong journalistic skills with the ability to think creatively about using topical news and contributors.
- A desire to apply the BBC’s values of accuracy and impartiality in everything you do.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working in a content production environment.
- Knowledge of the target audience, their needs and expectations.
- Effective planning and organising skills – ability to manage several areas of work simultaneously, prioritise and deliver consistently to deadlines, and react positively to changes.
- Knowledge of the BBC’s Editorial Standards and how to apply them across content.
- Ability to prioritise conflicting workloads efficiently while maintaining standards of accuracy and attention to detail when working to deadlines.
