MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?

As a Digital/AI Support Apprentice, this is a great opportunity to join an exciting BBC team while developing your knowledge in areas like: 

  • Understanding AI tools.
  • Selecting the right AI tool.
  • How the BBC is using AI tools.  
  • Using AI tools to solve problems and streamline processes.  

What will you be studying?

You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. This means you’ll spend at least one day a week studying for a Level 3 Digital Support Technician apprenticeship with our learning provider Apprentify, using its virtual delivery platform.     

Where could the role take you?

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to look for job opportunities inside or outside the BBC such as Digital Support/Administration, Team Assistant, Journalism Researcher or Production Coordinator. This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only.  The duration of this scheme is 18 months.

Great Digital/AI Support apprentices are those who can demonstrate they: 

  • Have brilliant organisational skills and are great at problem-solving
  • Are technically minded
  • Are good communicators
  • Can manage multiple deadlines and demands on your time

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over by 8th September 2025
  • By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
  • Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation. 
     

To apply for this scheme, you must also:

  • Have achieved, or expected to achieve by the start of the scheme, an English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification
  • Have achieved, or expected to achieve by the start of the scheme, a Maths GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification
  • Have achieved, or expected to achieve by the start of the scheme, a GCSE in a second STEM subject (in addition to Maths) at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification
  • Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level (this would include an A level (or equivalent) or degree that was focused on AI).

WHAT YOU GET
During your Apprenticeship:

  • A starting salary of £22,950
  • Industry-leading training through the BBC Academy and our learning providers (this may involve travel to locations across the UK)
