The purpose of the role within the BBC is to provide comprehensive administrative assistance to managers and team members within a nominated team(s). The role will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks e.g. the handling/directing of queries, maintenance of records coordination of projects and activities, and acting as the first point of contact for the team!

What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?
As a Business Administrator Apprentice you will have the opportunity to join an exciting BBC team while developing your skills in areas like:
- Business organisation
- Business governance (rules, practices and processes of a business)
- Business operations
- Introduction to project management and execution of business projects
- Stakeholder management
- Professionalism and development
What will you be studying?
You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. This apprenticeship will allow you to deepen your knowledge with hands on experience, assisting various projects across the BBC, which will develop your understanding of business management and developing your future career pathway.

Where could the role take you?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to look for permanent entry level corporate and business job opportunities inside or outside the BBC.
This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 18 months.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:
- Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts in September 2025
- By the start of the apprenticeship in September 2025, have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for a minimum of 3 years.
- Be eligible to work in the UK full time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.
- Not currently taking part in an apprenticeship scheme supported by the BBC or another organisation.
To apply for this scheme, you must also:
- Have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification. If you have not achieved English and Maths at Level, 2 by the start of your apprenticeship you will be required to achieve this before the end of your apprenticeship when you take your end-point assessment.
- Not already be studying or have completed a Business Administration qualification at level 3 or above.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE PLACEMENTS
Indie Delivery Unit: The Indie Delivery unit works collaboratively with Independent production companies, and internal stakeholders supporting the delivery of commissioned programmes into the BBC. We are a team that sits centrally within the BBC’s Content team, operating from London, Manchester and Birmingham. We work alongside commissioners, Business Affairs, channel schedulers, compliance managers and many other teams to ensure the smooth delivery of programmes into the BBC, and to broadcast. We also play a key role in ensuring (programme funding is being made to the production teams. The successful Business Administrator will work closely with both our delivery and payments team, and will overtime gain a thorough understanding of the full commissioning and business operations workflow here in the BBC. There will also be opportunities to support wider business strategy, challenging and improving the way we work, with an eye on how we can introduce new technologies and automations into our workflows.
iPlayer: iPlayer is at the forefront of reinventing the BBC for audiences across the UK, with a world-beating catalogue of distinctive programming from the biggest dramas to must see sporting events and breaking news.
Channels/Scheduling: Ever wondered who decides when your favourite show airs; how a major football tournament is planned; or why some shows are released on iPlayer early? The Scheduling team designs the most competitive and imaginative schedules for BBC channels to reflect the distinct brands and values of our portfolio. You will help us to shape short, medium and longer-term scheduling strategies and develop detailed knowledge of key competitors, learning how to analyse audience research to better understand how the nation watches television. You will build connections with other departments – such as Acquisitions, News, Finance, Marketing and Sport – to oversee our programmes from commission to transmission and ensure the BBC consistently delivers creative and engaging content for all.
Organisational Strategies: The Organisational Strategies team sits within the BBC HR function and is a newly formed team who work in partnership with senior HR leaders and business stakeholders on Operating Model design and Organisational Design. The team have a portfolio of projects working with teams across all areas of the BBC and you’ll be involved in supporting the team with the co-ordination of projects, such as setting up workshops (diarising meetings with senior stakeholders, room bookings etc), helping prepare materials (such as PowerPoint slides), taking actions and minutes and supporting training workshops.
Music Rights: The Music Rights & Reporting team sits within Commercial, Rights & Business Affairs. CRBA manages and connects the BBC’s Intellectual Property, strategic and business interests through expert negotiation, contracting and commercial deal-making. The Music Rights & Reporting team is a multi-disciplinary team, responsible for clearing, licensing and commissioning music as well as reporting the BBC’s music use to the collecting societies.
Factual Indie Partnerships (BBC Studios): The Factual Indie Partnerships team manages relationships with the indie TV production sector in the UK. We look to acquire suitable TV content for our international sales team to sell to broadcasters around the world.
Content Protection (BBC Studios): The content protection team at BBC Studios works across social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, to ensure that our content is not made available on social platforms in a way that cuts across our global distribution business. While we love it when fans engage with our content, when whole episodes or lengthy clips of the latest series of Doctor Who or Bluey or Planet Earth are posted on social platforms, this risks damaging our brand values and our commercial revenues. The successful apprentice will form part of a team working across social to protect BBC Studios’ content, and involves researching our rights positions, making decisions about whether content can be taken down and engaging with colleagues across the business.
Global Licensing (BBC Studios): The Global Licensing team develops BBC content into products that fans love to purchase, across live events, games, books, magazines, DVD, digital and interactive products. It is a dynamic commercial and creative division, working with brands such as Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing and Planet Earth.
