We are looking for a highly experienced Financial Controller to ensure the smooth operation of our accounting processes across BBC Finance, taking responsibility for the financial integrity of the Corporate Function division, and leading our Capital & Lease team.

You will ensure all period-end deadlines are met and will lead on the delivery of accurate and timely accounting, ensuring adherence to our internal control framework and managing the integrity and controllership of the reported actuals, including income statement, balance sheet and cashflow statement.

You will need to have excellent accounting knowledge, solid leadership experience, strong analytical skills with an eye for detail, and will be able to evidence leading a team delivering a first-class accounting service in a complex environment.

Your responsibilities and impact:

  • Ensure a robust month-end and year-end accounting close process across BBC Finance.
  • Deliver accurate financial reporting to stakeholders while ensuring internal controls and standards are consistently applied.
  • Oversee the delivery of effective and efficient Finance Operations processes and outputs.
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, including outsource providers and external auditors.
  • Provide expert technical accounting advice to support informed business decision-making and impact assessments.
  • Lead and support a team of finance professionals, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Support delivery of internal controls and financial reporting requirements across the division.
  • Drive continuous process improvement to generate efficiencies and streamline activities.

Your skills and experience:

  • You will be a fully qualified CCAB (or similar) accountant with at least 5 years post-qualified experience.
  • Experience of working in an environment with strong financial controls and governance will be recent.
  • Your technical accounting knowledge across UK and international reporting standards will be exceptional.
  • You will have already proven your ability to liaise confidently with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders, building relationships across all areas.
  • Your track record of process improvement and delivering to tight deadlines will be impressive and easy to evidence.
  • Your CV will demonstrate your substantial experience of managing teams (especially through change) and supporting delivery of financial systems and controls.
  • You will have an inquisitive mindset and will thrive on opportunities to investigate and resolve complex problems.
