Purpose of the Role

Join BBC Scotland's Commissioning team to shape vibrant, thought-provoking content that celebrates Scotland's culture and creativity. As Commissioning Editor for Entertainment, Factual Entertainment and Events, you will lead the development of standout series and live moments across TV, iPlayer and digital platforms, bringing bold formats, fresh talent and unforgettable experiences to audiences across the UK and beyond.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact

  • Develop and deliver entertainment, factual entertainment and cultural event programming across platforms.
  • Lead co-commissioning efforts with BBC Network teams to maximise reach and impact including attendance at Network genre slate and development meetings.
  • Nurture on-screen talent and champion new voices, especially in comedy entertainment.
  • Commission digital-first content for platforms including YouTube and TikTok.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure editorial excellence and promotional success.

Your Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Strong track record in content creation or development in entertainment, factual entertainment or events.
  • Strong understanding of current broadcasting trends and audience needs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Impeccable editorial judgement and creative flair with a track record of developing new ideas.
  • Clear understanding of digital content strategies for YouTube, TikTok and emerging platforms.
  • Experience in talent development and knowledge of Scottish on-screen talent.
  • Ability to manage budgets and deliver complex projects to deadline.

Desired but Not Required

  • Familiarity with international co-production and global entertainment trends.
  • Experience working across press, marketing and scheduling teams.
