Social Media Researcher in Manchester

Job Overview

BBC Studios is looking for a social media researcher to join its flagship BBC One daytime show, Morning Live. You’ll work with the social media manager and studio teams to create world‑class original content for Instagram, Facebook, X and the Morning Live homepage, using items from the show and collaborating with on‑screen talent to produce bespoke, shareable, short‑form videos and posts that enhance the Morning Live brand.

Responsibilities

• Create and edit short‑form videos and posts for social media.
• Work with on‑screen talent to pitch ideas and identify strong social‑first angles from broadcast items.
• Manage uploads, captions, hashtags, SEO optimisation and analytics across platforms.
• Ensure compliance with copyright, editorial guidelines and community management best practices.
• Be based in Manchester and attend the city centre studio at least three days a week.

Qualifications & Skills

• Great attention to detail
• Passion for social media and website features
• Good editorial knowledge
• Confidence in filming and photography with smartphones
• Strong copywriting and caption‑writing skills
• Understanding of analytics and performance insights across social platforms
• Knowledge of SEO for social content (hashtags, keywords, alt text)
• Experience in a fast‑turnaround environment
• Basic understanding of copyright, compliance and editorial guidelines
• Awareness of community management and audience engagement behaviours
• Ability to work confidently with on‑screen talent
• Knowledge of websites and website building tools
• Strong time‑management and multitasking under pressure
