BBC Studios is hiring a North West based Producer/Director to work on Appeal film content for Children in Need, starting early September. The role is for a creative storyteller with a strong record of producing short‑form films that engage audiences, drive impact, and bring powerful human stories to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop and produce short‑form content for digital and broadcast platforms.
- Produce and direct high quality interviews, actuality and contributor‑led sequences.
- Build strong relationships with contributors and stakeholders, ensuring sensitive and ethical storytelling throughout production.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Producer or Director creating short‑form factual, documentary, charity or social impact content.
- Strong editorial judgement and storytelling ability.
- Experience working directly with contributors and handling sensitive stories and safeguarding issues with care.
- Proven experience of directing films with vulnerable children and young people.
- Ability to self‑shoot and direct short sequences to a very high standard.
Desirable Experience
- Working on fundraising campaigns, charity content or purpose‑led storytelling.
- Knowledge of Children in Need’s mission and values.
