PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £26,000 - £28,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Plus London Weighting Allowance of £5,441.

Purpose of the Role
The Rights Coordinator role supports BBC Studios Distribution in acquiring, creating, and distributing content to maximise audience value and commercial return within a digital, global, and commercial environment. The Rights Management Team delivers high quality rights and restrictions data administration, and provides effective business support and coordination by using systems and processes efficiently and building strong, collaborative working relationships.
The Rights Coordinator role involves the accurate, consistent, and timely interpretation and management of acquisition and restriction data on the BBC Studios rights management system, ensuring full compliance with business requirements.
Why Join the Team
The Rights Management team sits within the Global Operations Content & Rights Acquisitions department. The team is responsible for management of acquisition, distribution and contributor rights and restrictions data in the BBC Studios Distribution rights management database. The Rights Management team interacts with a number of stakeholders within the C&RA department and the wider business, servicing rights and cost queries from Sales, investigating issues with rights and restrictions, producing bespoke rights reports and working on data enhancement and process improvement projects.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Interpret rights and restrictions information from distribution agreements, associated documents and other BBC Studios systems, and enters data into the BBC Studios rights management system.
- Ensures the database accurately reflects rights positions and supports end-to-end content management processes by monitoring and updating rights information when required.
- Provides a contributor rights clearance cost estimation service for Content Sales teams using Availability Reports run via the BBC Studios rights management system.
- Provides ad-hoc rights availability information in the form of written communication, face-to-face meetings and bespoke reporting for individual requests, events and special projects.
- Proactively manages the BBC Studios portfolio of rights by identifying contributor rights expiries and other restrictions impacting exploitation; resolving data conflicts; producing reports and supporting information for the Rights Executive to distribute to impacted business areas.
- With the Rights Executive, builds and maintains relationships with all stakeholders in the business to ensure rights data is best in class and supports content management to prevent BBC Studios commercial activity resulting in legal or reputational harm.
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role, particularly in a team focused on shared tasks and common goals.
- Proven customer service experience with a strong customer focused approach.
- Data management skills, including experience with content/rights management systems, metadata management and large data sets.
- Basic/intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar applications, plus familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Teams.
Desired But Not Required
- Experience of working in a media environment and/or knowledge of the current media landscape.
- Experience of working with contractual documents and legal language, particularly relating to acquisition, distribution and contributor rights.
- An understanding of BBC Studios’ content acquisition and distribution process.
