To deliver social distribution and monetisation / AVOD monetisation revenue and growth across BBC Studios Digital Global portfolio. The Commercial Partnerships Director leads partner management, business development, and innovation across social platforms and partners and supports and implements the commercial strategy, maximising commercial opportunities and improving the profitability of our partners relationships, to ultimately deliver growth and revenue and build our portfolio and fandoms internationally. This role sits within the Growth and Strategy team in the BBCS Digital division and plays a pivotal part in developing, managing, and optimising platform partnerships across major social and digital ecosystems. The position supports the division’s wider growth strategy. The role looks after 3 areas: Platform partnerships, 3rd Parties Partnership and Trade managing a team of 4 people.
Your Key Responsibilities and Impact
- Platform & Partner Management: Lead the management and development of platform partnerships including YouTube, Meta, Snap, TikTok, and emerging platforms. Oversee the development of third party partnership strategy to support divisional growth with focus on portfolio expansion for ad sales.
- Commercial Strategy & Business Development: Key contributor in the Commercial strategic thinking, supporting VP Commercial, across BBCS and BBC Group, partnering with critical areas of the business: Content, Production, CRBA, BLA, Ancillaries and BBC Public Service etc to deliver 5‑year growth targets. Lead partnerships strategic plan for partners and JBP, partnering closely with relevant stakeholders to deliver digital customer insight to inform long range planning. Lead innovation to unlock new commercial opportunities for the division, leveraging platform partner ecosystems and networks, building and executing a commercial pipeline. Make strategic decisions informed by business analysis, presenting risks and opportunities internally.
- Revenue, Forecasting & Reporting: Own forecasting and reporting across social indirect revenue lines, supporting departmental leads in finance conversations. Work closely with the Content and Talent teams to deliver performance plans at both platform and partner level, ensuring forecasting is aligned with content strategies, audience growth objectives, talent‑led activations, and upcoming commercial opportunities.
- Leadership, Collaboration and Industry Representation: Partner effectively across matrixed teams, ensuring alignment of commercial priorities and supporting cross functional initiatives. Lead team members, providing direction, support, and development opportunities. Represent the division and act as a spokesperson for our commercial partnership championing our portfolio, capabilities, and strategic vision at industry events, conferences and partner meetings.
Your Key Skills and Experience
Essential Criteria:
- Possesses a strong understanding of the Social AVOD platforms, sector and BBC competitors, and the relevant in‑depth knowledge of current global industry trends and issues relating to their functional area.
- Previous experience of delivering revenues against social monetisation targets.
- A track record in partner management, business development and creative deal making.
- Demonstrable experience of using data from multiple platforms to drive content decision making.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build rapport and credible, trusted and strong working relationships internally and externally.

- A collaborative style and someone who is comfortable dealing with ambiguity and working in a matrixed organisation with a significant amount of stakeholder management, and who can work well under pressure.
- Proven ability to turn strategy into action and lead a team to operationally deliver against stretching targets and priorities.
