In-House Editor (Development) – BBC Studios Specialist Factual Productions – London or Glasgow.

Main Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in editing standout sizzle reels and short‑form tapes that sell ideas – shaping narrative, tone and pace to create compelling, commission‑ready content.
  • Collaborate closely with the development team to translate treatments, decks and early‑stage ideas into dynamic, visually engaging pitches.
  • Source and creatively deploy archive, music, graphics and visual material to elevate concepts and create distinctive, premium‑feeling tapes.
  • Work across a diverse slate of projects – from history and arts to music and culture – tailoring each sizzle to specific commissioners and platforms.
  • Deliver high‑quality edits under tight deadlines, responding quickly to briefs while maintaining creative ambition and editorial clarity.

Are You the Right Candidate?

  • You have proven experience as a sizzle editor, promo producer or short‑form editor, with a strong portfolio of engaging, story‑led work.
  • You have a sharp instinct for narrative – able to find the story quickly, source imaginative footage, build emotional impact, and communicate ideas clearly within short runtimes.
  • You are highly skilled in editing software (e.g. Avid, Premiere or equivalent), with a strong command of pacing, music, and visual storytelling.
  • You have a clear understanding of what makes a tape sell – and an interest in how ideas land with UK broadcasters and global streamers.
  • You are collaborative, proactive, and thrive in a fast‑paced development environment.
  • Experience working with AI‑created material is not essential, but desirable.

Location: London or Glasgow.
