Band: C (Mid‑level Software Engineers - £43,000 - £53,000 per annum) D (Senior Software Engineers - £55,000 - £65,000 per annum)

We are expanding our engineering hub and looking for Mid‑level and Senior Software Engineers to join teams in Newcastle, Salford and Glasgow.

Programming languages required vary by site:

  • Glasgow: AWS / Node / JavaScript
  • Salford: AWS / Java / Python
  • Newcastle: AWS / Node / JavaScript / Python / React

Main Responsibilities:

Software engineers at the BBC are builders, designers and problem solvers. In this role you will:

  • Innovate and design new features and products, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
  • Deliver high‑quality code in line with project goals and delivery cycles, using agile methods
  • Take ownership of projects, code, database architecture and scalability
  • Mentor junior developers, promote technical standards and pair‑program across the team
  • Ship code and provide ongoing support after launch, ensuring secure, reliable and scalable software
  • Expand your skills across different areas and broaden your understanding of how the business works

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the end‑to‑end software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Experience writing automated tests and using TDD approaches
