As a Royalty Assistant in our Music Reporting Team, you’ll help ensure BBC Studios meets its royalty and reporting obligations to PRS for Music, MCPS and PPL. Your work keeps our industry‑leading content flowing, supporting the teams who bring programmes to life while building your expertise at the heart of a global TV business.
You’ll join a small, collaborative team that sits at the centre of how BBC Studios works with music collection societies. It’s a role that blends data and problem solving, well suited to someone who enjoys working with numbers offering exposure to the inner workings of a major TV company. With hands on experience across systems, contracts and music rights, you’ll gain the foundations for a diverse and rewarding career in royalties, finance or rights management.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Prepare quarterly sales reports for submission to MCPS and PPL, ensuring data is accurate and complete.
- Validate invoices from music collection societies against internal data, identifying and resolving differences.
- Provide music‑related data to other Talent Accounting teams to support payment calculations for production companies.
- Update and maintain databases with sales, payment and rights data.
- Interpret music rights information, advise on productions outside blanket agreements, and respond to internal and external queries.
- Source cue sheets to enable royalty pay-aways.
- Support the Music Royalties Executive with timely reporting and analysis.
Your Skills And Experience
- Strong experience working with Excel and databases, with the ability to extract, interpret and summarise complex datasets.
- High numerical proficiency with a methodical approach to analysing financial or rights related information, consistently demonstrating strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manually prepare or support the preparation of royalty or financial statements, ensuring accuracy against fixed deadlines.
- Effective communicator able to liaise confidently with internal teams and external stakeholders, summarising information clearly.
- A self starter who is highly organised, proactive, eager to learn and able to work collaboratively within a small team.

- Understanding of media rights, music rights or distribution agreements.
- Familiarity with royalty systems (Alliant) or analytical tools.
- Background or studies in accounting, finance or legal fields.
