Responsibilities include providing live reporting and turnaround for breaking news stories under tight deadlines. Research, brief, script and deliver radio stories, including interviews and guest segments. Prepare and present hourly news bulletins, including weekend breakfast and mid-morning content. Deliver creative on-air treatments that respond to evolving news and audience needs. Work with BBC news producers and colleagues across the corporation, maintaining high-standard accuracy, impartiality, and fair dealing in line with BBC Editorial values. Work predominantly on weekends, with an additional weekday shift before or after the weekend. Demonstrate a strong broadcast voice and exceptional clarity and confidence in radio delivery. Produce creative treatments on air, including original story ideas, suitable guests, and background research. Show live production experience, summarising complex issues calmly and clearly under significant time pressure.

Qualifications: Experienced journalist with passion for storytelling, breaking news experience, and a newsreading voice. Strong broadcast voice and production skills. Digital journalism skills are desirable. Motivated, multi-skilled journalist able to shape content across multiple platforms. Ability to adapt stories for different platforms and meet tight deadlines. Original and inclusive ideas that reflect a diverse audience. Demonstrated accuracy, impartiality, fair dealing and compliance with BBC editorial values.
