PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £55,000 plus £5,441 London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join BBC.com as a Senior Designer and play a key role in shaping the creative direction of its growing international subscription business. You'll lead the development of impactful brand and campaign creative across digital channels, combining strategic thinking with hands‑on design execution. Working closely with editorial, marketing, product and UX teams, you'll create audience‑focused campaigns, champion brand excellence and help drive subscription growth on a global scale.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Lead the creation of high-quality design and campaign assets across web, social, CRM, paid media and subscription marketing channels.
  • Develop compelling creative concepts and visual storytelling that drive audience acquisition, engagement, retention and subscription growth.
  • Champion and evolve BBC brand standards, ensuring consistency and excellence across all customer touchpoints.
  • Partner with editorial, marketing, product, UX and growth teams to translate insights and objectives into effective creative solutions.
  • Manage multiple creative projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, presenting creative work confidently and influencing decision‑making through expert design guidance.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership, mentoring and direction to the Motion Designer, helping to maintain high creative standards across the team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Significant experience in a Senior Designer, Graphic Designer or Brand Design role, ideally within media, publishing, digital products, subscription businesses or content‑led brands.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing branding, campaign development, digital marketing and visual storytelling.
  • Expert knowledge of design principles, including typography, layout, visual hierarchy, photography and brand systems.
  • Proven experience creating high‑performing creative assets across digital channels, including web, social, CRM and paid media.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, with experience working within digital‑first environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, present ideas and build effective working relationships across multiple teams.
  • Experience leading projects and supporting, mentoring or coaching junior creatives.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience working within subscription, membership or audience growth‑focused businesses.
  • Basic motion graphics knowledge and an understanding of animation‑led creative.
  • Experience using AI‑powered creative tools and emerging technologies to enhance workflows and output.
  • Understanding of digital products, UX principles and performance marketing.
  • Experience contributing to the evolution of brand systems and creative frameworks.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance brand, audience and business objectives.
  • Passion for storytelling, journalism and creating work that reaches global audiences.
