Working schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am–4pm GMT with occasional weekend or public holiday shifts.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Studios is hiring a Senior Curation Editor for bbc.com, based in London. The role is part of the Audience Development team in the Global Digital News & Streaming division, supporting the BBC's global website and apps with news and facts‑based content curation.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote news & factual content across the site and app, adhering to editorial values and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with editors across BBC divisions on daily priorities, scheduling, and curation of big events and initiatives.
  • Balance story mix, formats, and audience needs throughout the day and by geographical zone.
  • Ensure headlines are sharp and image choices work for small mobile screens.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news, planning and writing concise push alerts.
  • Monitor emerging trends in news curation and competitor activity to inform decisions.
  • Partner with search and social teams to promote relevant topics.
  • Drive experimentation, A/B testing and performance analysis to elevate on‑site experience.
  • Prepare clear handover notes and flag site or CMS issues to IT or product.
  • Work required weekend and public holiday shifts as part of team rotation.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • 5+ years of digital publishing experience in a news environment.
  • Digital journalism experience, preferably in news curation.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize competing demands.
  • Broad interest in news and factual content and comfort interpreting audience data.
  • Collaborative self‑starter, working with editorial, commercial, audience, analytics and product teams.
  • Desire to understand the consumer experience on BBC digital products.
  • Enthusiasm for the BBC brand, importance of impartiality and understanding its practice.
  • Evidence of positive impact on newsroom culture.
  • Strong organizational, planning and time‑management skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a matrixed organization and work effectively across teams and time zones.

COMPENSATION

Annual base salary up to ÂŁ51,000 + London weighting.
