PURPOSE OF ROLE

BBC Studios’ Documentary Unit is seeking a Junior Production Manager, to join the team creating current affairs, special project and arts films for The One Show. This is a full‑time role, based in Salford, with an on‑site requirement of two days per week.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will play a central role in delivering Current Affairs, Arts and Special Project VT inserts in a transmission‑critical environment.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • You’ll work closely with the Production Management and The One Show Editorial teams, including senior leadership.
  • You’ll manage day‑to‑day filming and edit schedules, coordinate location logistics, oversee budgets, and make informed decisions in a fast‑changing environment.
  • The role also involves building strong relationships with talent and suppliers, while proactively identifying and delivering effective solutions.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are seeking someone with strong budgeting, forecasting, organisation and scheduling skills, able to prioritise resources and meet transmission‑critical deadlines. Experience at Junior Production Management level and across Factual output is essential.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Proven experience with BBC finance systems and end‑to‑end production is essential.
  • You’ll demonstrate strong leadership, proactively solve problems, and build effective relationships with suppliers and on‑screen talent.
  • The role requires managing competing demands in a fast‑paced environment, maintaining accuracy across budgets and schedules, and bringing a positive, adaptable, can‑do attitude under pressure.
