Proposed Salary Range: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

Purpose of the Role: BBC Education exists to transform lives through learning and education. That clear vision drives everything we do as we lead the overall education strategy for the BBC. BBC Children’s and Education is looking for an experienced Producer to lead a team taking the Bitesize Careers Tour onto the road to deliver careers advice and inspiration to an estimated 110,000 secondary school pupils. In partnership with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, the tour will visit over 100 schools across the UK from September to February. Each visit will involve delivering 4 x hour long careers sessions, led by a BBC host and a panel of engaging guests from a variety of industries and job roles who will aim to change perceptions, inspire ambition and highlight a variety of career pathways.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact:

  • The overall scheduling and delivery of the Bitesize Careers Tour in secondary schools across the UK.
  • Day-to-day management of a large team on location and in the office.
  • Provide the editorial vision of the tour and have the ability to plan ahead for all likely eventualities and suggest/implement solutions to logistical and editorial problems.
  • Work closely with our partner, the Gatsby Charitable Foundation ensuring all deliverables are met and partnership is a success.
  • Although this is a more office-based role, you will be required to travel on location too, including working away from home for a number of weeks.
  • Work closely with the Careers website team to ensure messaging is correct and help raise awareness of the site amongst teachers, students and parents.
  • Commission updated Careers Tour introduction film.

Essential Criteria:

  • Extensive experience in delivering large scale events.
  • Demonstrable experience of commissioning and creating content for a teenage audience, including films.
  • Experience of managing a large team ensuring they successfully deliver a project, including line managing, performance management and motivating teams to work collaboratively.
  • Extensive experience of influencing and managing relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience of working with children, safeguarding and health and safety.
