This BBC apprenticeship offers hands‑on experience and expert training to kick‑start your career in project management. You’ll work across dynamic business teams, helping deliver projects on time and within budget. Gain practical skills, understand project management theory, and apply best practices in real‑world settings – all while contributing to one of the world’s leading media organisations.

As a Project Manager Apprentice with the BBC Studios team, you’ll work with experienced professionals and contribute to impactful projects. Learn the ropes of project management by supporting real data platform projects from planning to delivery, while being mentored by experienced PMs. Help keep things on track by updating timelines, tracking progress, and making sure everyone knows what’s happening and when. Work with cool tech teams building data tools that power decision‑making across the company.

You’ll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor‑led workshops, tutorial sessions, practical and library‑based research, presentations, group work and real‑world simulated projects.

The apprenticeship programme is structured across 3 learning levels:

  • Level 4: Covers Business Environment, Stakeholder Management, and Project Planning & Control
  • Level 5: Focuses on Project Management Professionalism and Professional Development
  • Level 6: Includes Programme & Portfolio Management, Project Leadership & Governance, and Change & Risk Management

During your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards a BSc (Hons) Level 6 degree in Project Management, alongside earning the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) – a respected industry certification. Upon successful completion, you’ll be eligible to apply for full membership with the Association for Project Management (APM).

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship
  • Be legally eligible to work full‑time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship
  • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme
  • Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level

To apply for this scheme, you must also have, or expect to have, Maths and English GCSEs or National 5 (Scotland) at 9‑4 (A‑C) or an equivalent qualification, and a Level 3 qualification(s) that equate to 96 UCAS points.
