JOB BAND: D CONTRACT TYPE: Fixed-term Contract - Full Time / Attachement - Full Time (12 months) DEPARTMENT: Licence Fee Unit LOCATION: London Broadcasting House (Hybrid with a minimum of 2 days in London offices) PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £49,200 - 60,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a Marketing Manager in the Licence Fee Unit, you’ll play a key role in creating campaigns that drive revenue across a wide range of marketing platforms. We are an award-winning team working with market leading agencies in campaign management and media activation. And you’ll be part of the BBC’s wider marketing community, with opportunities for growth.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

The Licence Fee Unit (LFU) is the key funding source for the BBC. We are a small team working to an outsourced model. You’ll be working with a large full-service agency, a best in breed media buyer and smaller specialist agencies. The LFU is a highly collaborative and nurturing team. We encourage Enterprise working across the BBC. We constantly look to innovate to drive revenue and cut costs. The role therefore offers many opportunities for growth.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Oversee campaigns working with our outsourced suppliers. Selecting creative routes and influencing final selection by respective Head of Marketing for major briefs.
  • Review all media plans working with our outsourced Media planning and buying agency.
  • Ensure best overall ROI for your campaigns, based on campaign analysis.
  • Employ Enterprise working within the LFU and across BBC divisions and our suppliers. Ensuring all activity is supportable operationally, legally and meets policy expectations, including BBC Editorial Guidelines.
  • Contribute to the Strategic Planning process by understanding business priorities. Using appropriate campaign insight, post campaign analytics and data analysis.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience at a senior level developing new and effective marketing strategies – likely to have been gained in a large organisation with regulatory oversight.
  • Experience delivering complex marketing campaigns across multiple channels;including direct, digital, social and influencer media output.
  • Experience working with outsourced teams and Enterprise working within an organisation. Able to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills, embrace change and manage critical stakeholder relationships.
  • Self-reliant, resilient and proactive. Able to manage a complex matrix environment with shared responsibilities across the BBC. Able to present to Senior stakeholders to achieve buy-in.
  • Proven significant budgetary responsibility in a large-scale marketing organisation.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience translating audience insights and analytics into a marketing plan, and effective campaign briefs.
  • Evidence of direct marketing experience including - Direct Mail, Email and SMS.
  • Evidence of digital marketing experience including - Paid and Owned media across Display, Search, Social, ECRM, and Influencer. Including but not limited to TV, Radio, Digital and Podcasts.
  • Good negotiation, influencing and presentation skills.
