- PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £41,200 - £51,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
JOB PURPOSE
Join BBC News' Growth team to help shape our digital strategy at weekends. As a Senior Journalist, you'll use audience insights and optimisation techniques to ensure our journalism reaches the widest possible audience. This is a 4-day, 10-hour shift pattern, working every Saturday and Sunday.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Research, compile and share team emails on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
- Work with planning and commissioning teams on weekend content.
- Provide real-time insights and optimisation advice during weekend shifts.
- Analyse weekend content performance and share actionable feedback with editorial teams.
- Collaborate across BBC News to strengthen our digital proposition and reach.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Proficiency in online analytics tools (e.g., Chartbeat, Telescope, Piano, Newswhip, News Dashboard) and an ability to translate data into editorial action.
- Editorial experience and understanding of content production, formats, user needs, and newsroom workflows.
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills, including presenting to journalists at all levels.
- Commitment to a collaborative, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Experience with SEO and social media optimisation strategies.
- Familiarity with audience segmentation and growth tactics.
- Knowledge of emerging digital trends and platforms.
- Experience in training or mentoring colleagues on digital best practices.
- Understanding of BBC editorial values and compliance.
