JOB PURPOSE
As a Senior Journalist for Curation, you’ll be working as part of the team that manages the front pages of the BBC News website and app. You’ll work with all parts of BBC News to ensure that our global audiences are served the best and most important stories from across the BBC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Work with the assistant editor to decide how we showcase the most important stories and video of the day.
- Workshop front‑page headlines and images with editors and the picture desk.
- Swiftly implement curation plans around breaking news.
- Help editors and stakeholders identify daily promotion priorities and drive a broad and compelling mix of content across the day.
- Apply audience data and research to inform curation decisions.
- Use curation insights to inform newsroom discussions about commissioning and promotion.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Excellent editorial judgement with significant experience working in curation to execute digital promotion plans in a fast‑paced news environment.
- Proven experience in covering the UK and international news agenda and delivering insightful, high‑quality journalism to digital audiences.
- The ability to sift through news material at speed, craft sharp headlines and identify the best pictures, while maintaining accuracy, balance, context and tone.
- Experience of making decisions under pressure while swiftly rolling out a digital coverage plan.
- A track‑record of using data to reach new audiences and drive habit.
