Contract Type: Permanent, full-time
Location: London Television Centre. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working (at least 2 days per week, subject to change) with home working.
Salary: up to £50,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience PLUS London Weighting Allowance of £5,441. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Key Responsibilities and Impact- Provide Senior Executive level business affairs drafting, negotiation and contract management for a wide range of production and development agreements, including but not limited to presenter, musician and other contributor agreements, location agreements and other rights agreements.
- Ensure necessary rights are acquired for primary and secondary programme broadcast and exploitation as required.
- Advise on contributor fees, contract terms, engagement of foreign contributors, copyright clearance and interpretation of contributor union agreements.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the production departments you support and be a trusted go-to advisor to them.
- Build excellent relations with external contacts including agents, talent, commercial partners and rights‑owning bodies.
- Maintain strong working relationships within the BBC Group including other Legal and Business Affairs teams within BBC Public Service and BBC Studios.
- Use IT software and systems as required to manage and produce contractual documentation.
- Appropriate level of experience in drafting and negotiating rights contracts.
- A working understanding of copyright and other key legal contractual and commercial terms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build internal and external relationships.
- Prioritisation and time management to ensure organisation and completion of workloads.
- A proven track record of delivering projects to deadlines.
- Legal education or qualifications is not essential but would be an advantage.
- A passion for broadcasting and media.
- A flexible 35‑hour working week with 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) and the option to buy an extra five days.
