Working closely with the Group Financial Accounting Manager, you'll support statutory reporting, advise on technical accounting matters, and help ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP and reporting requirements. This is a key role influencing accounting decisions, strengthening financial controls, and supporting the delivery of high-quality financial reporting across BBC Studios.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

Our Technical Accounting team sits at the centre of BBC Studios' finance function, partnering with stakeholders across the business on a wide range of accounting and reporting matters. It's an excellent opportunity to deepen your technical knowledge and make a visible impact across a global media organisation.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Prepare subsidiary statutory financial statements across the BBC Studios Group, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Act as a key contact for technical accounting queries, providing guidance on complex transactions and the accounting implications of commercial decisions.
  • Review and analyse month-end, quarterly and year-end financial results, reconciliations and balance sheet positions to support a robust control environment.
  • Support Group reporting activities, including year-end submissions, external reporting requirements and audit processes.
  • Assist with monitoring and analysing foreign exchange exposure, hedging activity and related reporting.
  • Deliver technical accounting training and guidance to finance teams across the business as accounting standards and legislation evolve.
  • Support the maintenance and development of accounting policies, processes and controls to ensure ongoing compliance and best practice.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and UK GAAP, and the ability to apply accounting standards in a practical commercial environment.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing or analysing statutory financial statements and associated disclosure requirements.
  • Strong understanding of consolidation principles within a multi-entity or international group environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting issues clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of foreign exchange accounting, treasury activities or hedging arrangements.
  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA, BPC, Workiva or similar finance systems.
  • Experience liaising with external auditors and supporting year-end audit processes.
  • An interest in, or experience within, the media, broadcast, production or television industry.
