Job Purpose

BBC Studios is hiring a Curation Editor for bbc.com, based in London. You will manage the home page and key indexes during UK morning hours, curating the site and app experience for global audiences outside the UK, including North America. The role sits within the Audience Development team and reports to the Lead Curation Editor.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Promote news & factual content across the site and app during UK morning hours, while rigorously adhering to editorial values and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with editors across the BBC, including in the News and Sport divisions, on daily priorities, scheduling, and curation of big events and initiatives.
  • Consider the mix of stories, formats and audience needs at different times of day and for each geographical zone.
  • Ensure headlines are sharp and image choices work well on small mobile screens.
  • Stay on top of breaking news, make changes quickly, and plan and write accurate and concise push alerts.
  • Drive new learnings and insights to elevate on‑site experience and deepen user journeys through A/B testing, strategic experimentation, and performance analysis.
  • Prepare and share clear handover notes; flag any site or CMS issues or bugs to IT or product teams promptly.
  • Work weekend and public holiday shifts as part of team rotation to meet operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Professional Experience

  • Digital journalism experience, ideally in news curation.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritise effectively when faced with competing demands.
  • Broad and deep interest in news and factual content, and comfort interpreting audience data to inform decisions.
  • Collaborative self‑starter who works across editorial, commercial, audience development, analytics and product teams.
  • Desire to understand the consumer experience on BBC digital products in detail.
  • Enthusiasm for the BBC’s trusted news brand and understanding of impartiality and its practical application.
  • Evidence of positive impact on newsroom culture.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and pivot as news demands change.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function in a matrixed organisation and work effectively across teams and time zones.
  • 3+ years’ experience in digital publishing in a news environment.
  • Prior experience as a homepage producer or editor, ideally in a news context.
  • Experience with push notifications, content optimisation and A/B testing desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Package Description

  • Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Contract type: Permanent role.
  • Location: Office based in London, Television Centre. Hybrid role; balances office working with home working.
