PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: ÂŁ50,000 - ÂŁ60,000 (including London weighting). Salary dependent on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The AI Creative Lab within BBC Studios Global Content is an initiative designed to supercharge innovation across our global content portfolio. Supporting Scripted, Unscripted, Global Productions, Audio, and Kids & Family, the Lab will shape bespoke creative solutions while responsibly and adventurously embracing rapidly emerging technologies. Reporting to the Head of AI Creative Lab, you will prototype new creative technologies, support development of future-facing workflows, and partner with production teams to unlock new formats and IP. Blending technical skill with creative prowess, you will be at the forefront of emerging technologies, ensuring they are used responsibly, effectively, and in service of exceptional storytelling.

You will shape prototypes and workflows that push creative and production boundaries across TV, audio and digital, and develop practical solutions which help us set the standard for responsible, ambitious, principled use of AI.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
- Develop, test and evaluate cuttingâedge AI/ML tools to enable or enhance content creation for television, audio, film, social and immersive formats.
- Rapidly prototype creative technology solutions, integrating them into production workflows where they will deliver measurable value.
- Collaborate with creative, editorial and production teams to explore new formats, IP opportunities and futureâfacing storytelling methods.
- Benchmark models, manage datasets and oversee responsible use of AI/ML in creative environments.
- Translate creative challenges into technical solutions, communicating options and constraints clearly.
- Continuously research emerging tools, trends and methods to keep BBC Studios at the forefront of AIâdriven creative innovation.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Proven experience applying AI/ML within media, production, VFX, gaming, animation, or other R&Dâdriven creative environments, with a strong understanding of how these technologies support realâworld workflows.
- Advanced technical capability across Python, AWS, Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Node, React, or similar frameworks, combined with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated handsâon prototyping ability, with a track record of rapidly building functional, artistâfriendly tools suitable for creative or show production, using iterative or agile approaches.
- Strong experience working in production environments such as advertising, TV, film, VFX/post, previs, or gaming cinematics, with deep understanding of how tools integrate across creative production pipelines and modern digital platforms.
- Practical experience using AI/ML for content generation, animation, motion, compositing, model evaluation, fineâtuning, data preparation, and orchestration, including benchmarking and combining models effectively.
- Evidenced appreciation of creative aesthetics and usability, producing intuitive tools for artists, paired with a collaborative working style and willingness to learn new technologies as required.
- Experience with XR, markerless mocap, splats, and virtual production a strong bonus.
