PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Yorkshire seeks a Weather Presenter to provide timely and accurate weather forecasts for breakfast audiences on BBC local radio, TV, online and social. The role requires broadcasting live on local radio stations and television, building on‑air relationships and contributing to a programme team.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Analyse weather charts and observations and use the weather graphics system.
  • Compile and present weather forecasts for the breakfast audience on BBC local radio, TV and online.
  • Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver output to the highest professional standards.
  • Present content on radio, TV, online and social – live or recorded.
  • Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
  • Deliver to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with the BBC health and safety policy.

  • Confident broadcaster.
  • Knowledge or interest in weather and meteorology.
  • Editorial experience.
  • Personal resilience and flexibility.

  • Expertise in weather, meteorology and climate science.
