CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time

DEPARTMENT: Technology – AV Engineering

LOCATION: London – non-hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £35,000 – £40,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. London Weighting £5,441 will be added on top of the base salary.

Purpose of the role

Join our AV Engineering team and help deliver high quality audio visual experiences across BBC Studios. As a Junior AV Engineer, you’ll support the installation, maintenance, and operation of AV and collaboration technologies, ensuring our teams can communicate, create, and collaborate seamlessly.

Your key responsibilities and impact

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of AV systems including audio, video, control, and conferencing solutions.
  • Support Senior AV Engineers during system deployments, upgrades, and live events.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic AV and connectivity issues.
  • Perform routine system checks, equipment setup, and cable management.
  • Support and maintain video conferencing and collaboration platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Your skills and experience

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Fundamental understanding of Audio Visual systems, including microphones, speakers, displays, projectors, and signal flow.
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, or similar.
  • Basic networking concepts (IP addressing, switches, VLANs at a basic level).
  • Ability to follow technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and use basic AV test tools.
  • Previous internship, apprenticeship, or hands on AV experience.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Familiarity with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX).
  • Awareness of network based AV solutions (AV over IP, Dante, NDI).
  • Basic knowledge of unified communications or audio networking.
  • AV or IT related certifications (or working toward them).
  • Ability to travel to remote offices within Europe, with occasional global travel.
