SALARY RANGE: £45,700 – £69,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The role ensures that relevant HR misconduct is thoroughly investigated and addressed in line with legal and regulatory obligations. As a vital member of the Investigations Division, you will contribute to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the corporation.

The Investigator (HR) plays an important role in performing high quality investigations, delivering robust and consistent investigation outcomes for relevant HR cases in accordance with relevant legal requirements and internal policies. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle a broad investigation portfolio, enhancing and promoting ethical practices and fostering confidence in the investigative process.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
As Investigator (HR) your primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting robust, evidence-led investigations into Bullying and Harassment claims and other HR cases posing high reputational risk to the BBC. Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, internal policy and professional best practice.
- Producing high level, robust and forensically sound written case reports to senior stakeholders and interdisciplinary panels, clearly describing the evidential review process and investigation outcome.
- Making recommendations to senior stakeholders about identified improvements or enhancements to controls and working practices to minimize the risk of harm recurrence, based on investigation findings.Designing and facilitating relevant training and awareness raising activities for a wide range of audiences, including freelancers and those working internationally.
- Collaborating with HR Case Managers, providing information about investigation progress to allow communication with affected stakeholders according to Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Have comprehensive understanding and experience of HR-specific investigations, including knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance and operating procedures across a global corporate environment.
- Hold relevant investigative qualification (equivalent to PIP2 or higher) and ACAS qualification, as well as professional institute membership(s). Must have recognised interview training, e.g. PEACE.
- Be able to act independently and flexibly, managing multiple cases, prioritizing actions and contributing subject matter expertise to manage time and resources effectively.
- Demonstrate ability to produce robust investigation reports for executive level audience (including regulatory or legislative bodies), clearly articulating case findings, conclusions and recommendations for resolution and prevention of recurrence.
- Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to handle sensitive investigations and communications in high-pressure, diverse, multicultural and international working environments. Manage difficult situations with resilience, sensitivity, professionalism and confidentiality.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Have experience supporting senior colleagues to provide support, guidance and subject matter expertise to HR investigation teams and to deliver process improvements, including responsible incorporation of AI.
