LOCATION: London Television Centre – Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £110,000 plus £5441 London Weighting and up to 25% bonus depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Studios is driving an ambitious five‑year growth plan, which relies on strong processes, a solid control environment, and high‑quality financial reporting. To support this, the Head of Finance – ICFR will lead the implementation and embedding of a new ICFR framework across all Lines of Business, assessing financial reporting risks and ensuring governance standards remain aligned with BBC Group expectations.

Reporting to the BBC Studios Group Financial Controller, you’ll lead a dedicated team and work closely with senior finance leaders across BBC Studios and the wider Group. It’s a chance to drive meaningful change, influence strategic decision‑making, and contribute directly to the organisation’s long‑term commercial success.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Lead the implementation and embedding of the new ICFR framework for BBC Commercial, ensuring alignment with the BBC Group framework and driving adoption across the business.
  • Understand key processes, risks, and controls across in-scope FSLIs, performing walkthroughs and assessing control design effectiveness end‑to‑end.
  • Plan, execute, and review Operational Effectiveness testing in line with audit standards, ensuring robust evidence and challenge.
  • Support remediation of control deficiencies, providing SME guidance to control owners and ensuring Expected Minimum Controls address key risks.
  • Manage clear, accurate ICFR reporting for forums and committees, raising awareness of ICFR requirements and recommending improvements.
  • Act as the key liaison with the BBC ICFR team, supporting annual Group-level attestation and ensuring BBC Commercial meets major ICFR milestones.
  • Lead the Commercial ICFR team and provide ICFR expertise to Finance leadership, projects, and stakeholders, including training and capability development.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • A fully qualified Accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification)
  • Significant and relevant ICFR/SOX demonstrable experience, including developing, implementing and monitoring financial controls in an international matrix organisation
  • A strong business acumen with ability to identify and translate risk concepts into actionable insights
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to convey technical knowledge relating to risk and control, financial information and policy to senior stakeholders and non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven ability to prioritise effectively
  • Ability to drive effective decision-making and support performance management.
  • Experience of leading and developing a team

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Controls-design effectiveness testing
  • Experience in managing change within an organisation, particularly in relation to implementing new frameworks and processes
  • Media and entertainment knowledge and experience
