PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the exciting world of BBC Scotland News & Current Affairs Longform Team as a Production Coordinator. Working mainly on Gaelic News series Eòrpa you’ll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of this powerful content across multiple platforms including Linear TV and BBC i‑player. From planning to post‑production, your organisational skills will help bring impactful stories to life—shaping content that resonates with audiences in Scotland, the UK, Europe and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Provide day‑to‑day production support to the Eòrpa team and at times offer support to the wider Production Management colleagues in News.
- Work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, multi‑platform content.
- Work independently and proactively as part of the team.
- Generate and distribute film schedules, ensuring all talent, crew and contributors are engaged appropriately and kept informed of logistics both in the office and on location.
- Record and report 50/50 data monthly to the production team.
- Gather and maintain Albert evidence throughout the production process.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience and knowledge of BBC Systems: ACON, Silvermouse, MyBusiness, Smartbook, Albert, Transport & Travel bookings/IT bookings.
- Knowledge of BBC procedures, policies and multi‑platform awareness.
- Experience of foreign filming (liaising with IFU, foreign fixers and arranging carnets via BBC Shipping).
- Strong attention to detail, basic budgeting/financial skills, managing accurate running costs and reporting back to the Production Manager regularly.
- Demonstrable experience working in a fast‑paced environment with strong communication skills.
