  • PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 – 46,500 (pro-rata) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.

BBC EXTEND

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Are you passionate about news? Would you enjoy reporting on digital, radio and TV? BBC Naidheachdan offers Gaelic news online, on social media, on radio and on television. We are looking for a part-time journalist to work in Inverness, Glasgow or Stornoway.

THE TEAM

We broadcast seven days a week through our online service and programmes such as Aithris na Maidne & Aithris an Fheasgair and An Là. We want to hear from people from all walks of life who have a strong desire to work in Gaelic news.

KEY DUTIES

We are looking for talented journalists to bring the stories from your own areas to our listeners and viewers. Our journalists have a wide range of skills and the work requires a variety of things such as:

  • Excellent Gaelic language skills
  • Ability to research stories
  • Technical skills

CORE SKILLS:

  • You have extensive knowledge of local, national and international news.
  • You have excellent Gaelic language skills.
  • You are creative and good at preparing and delivering stories.
  • You are good at working as part of a team and are willing to learn new skills.
  • You are willing to work flexibly later in the day or at weekends according to the needs of the service.
